ANTARCTICA, VP8 Chris, KC4/N3SIG, is QRV from the McMurdo Base on Ross Island, AN-011, till Mar 2002. He can be found mostly in SSB on 10/15/20m (14243 kHz). QSL via AI3D.
AUSTRALIA, VK On Nov 8 Nico, PA0MIR, is flying to VK and intends to activate OC-006, OC-233 and OC-136 signing VK3FEI/p until early March. He asks for real reports, find him on the IOTA frequencies! QSLs will be answered after his return, bureau is ok as well. SWL stations should write down at least three calls he worked with.
AUSTRALIA, VK, OC-006 Gary, KI6T, is travelling through Tasmania and will sign VK7ACK during the first week of November. QSL via KI6T.
BONAIRE, PJ4, SA-006 Peter, PJ4/PA3CNX, will be QRV especially on 3790, 7070, 14340, 28440 and 29580 kHz (in FM) and also on 50110 kHz if the band opens from Nov 5-30. QSL via bureau. Find more details at http://home.wxs.nl/~cnx/
DUCIE ISLAND, VP6, OC-182 The Pitcairn Island Amateur Radio Association announces its DXpedition to Ducie Island starting on Nov 16. Three stations operated by FO3BM, JA1BK/VP6BK, JA1SLS/VR6BB, JF1IST, K5VT, K9AJ, VP6DB and VP6TC can be found in CW on 14020, 21020 kHz and in SSB on 14195, 21295, 28495 kHz. They will also activate the other bands from 160-6m including RTTY. The call will be announced when they hit the airwaves. QSL via VE3HO. Pilot station is K6GNX. EASTER ISLAND, CE0, SA-001 Andy, HB9JOE and Fred, HB9AAQ, are on the air with 100 watts in CW on 10-40 signing CE9Y/homecalls from Nov 4-8. QSL via homecalls.
ISLA DE SAN ANDRES, HK0, NA-033 Gerd, DL7VOG, will be QRV with IC-706 and HF9VX vertical from Nov 8-29. His preferred modes are CW and RTTY and thus he intends to participate in the WAE RTTY and CQWW CW Contest. The call is not known yet but he applied for HK0GU.
MALAWI, 7Q Trudie, 7Q7TV, and Richard, 7Q7RV, both missionaries just received their new licenses. Right now they only have antennas for 20/30/40m so their first activities should be there in SSB (CW will follow soon). QSL via ZS6DX.
MARQUESAS ISLANDS, FO0, OC-027 Janusz, SP9FIH, plans to be active in SSB on 14180, 21280, 28480 MHz and on 6m until Nov 10. QSL via SP9FIH.
NEPAL, 9N Micha, DL7VMH, is signing 9N7MH mostly in CW on 17m and another band between Oct 28 and Nov 5. The license for these two bands costs him US$ 120! QSL via DL7VMH.
NORTH CAICOS, VP5, NA-002 Connie, K5CM, and Pam, N5KW, are QRV on the HF bands+6m from Nov 7-28.
PAKISTAN, AP Mark, ON4WW, will be QRV in the beginning of November. The call is not known yet but activities are expected on the lowbands.
TUVALU, T2, OC-015 A Japanese team is on the air in CW/SSB/RTTY on 160-6m from Nov 1-8. QSL via JN1HOW (HF) and JH6OHF (6m), direct ONLY!
VIETNAM, 3W Steve, WB2KHO, will be active from Ho Chi Minh City working in SSB on 10/15/20m from Nov 5-16. The call may be 3W2SF. QSL via WB2KHO.
DUCIE ISLAND
Ducie Island is situated about 472 km East of Pitcairn, a little bit South of the tropic of Cancer. The island is only 6.4 sqkm large, there is practically no drinking water and very sparse vegetation can be found at a few places only. It is very difficult to get onto the island so only very few people are visiting it. But Ducie Island is a hotbed for thousands of seabirds.
The birth of the new Princess Elisabeth was reason for the Belgian licensing authority to allow the Belgian radio amateurs using the prefix OQ until Dec 31, 2001.
