ARLP034 Propagation de KT7H
Solar flux is still low, about the same as last week. The average for this week is only three points higher than the week before. As of this writing the trend is down, with zero visible spots on the solar surface. Look for solar flux to remain at a low of around 70 for the next two weeks, then peak at just 80 by month's end. The only bright spot is that the geomagnetic field is expected to stay quiet. This is good for propagation over the poles, but of course the low solar flux keeps the chance of propagation down on the higher bands.
On Wednesday and Thursday there was some upset due to geomagnetic activity, producing K indices as high as four and five. This is expected to settle down after this weekend.
Sunspot Numbers for August 3 through August 9 were 26, 29, 28, 56, 33, 20 and 0, with a mean of 27.4. 10.7 cm flux was 73.3, 73, 75.1, 75.1, 73.7, 73.6 and 73.4, with a mean of 73.9.
The path projection for this week is from Bahamas to Vancouver, BC, Montreal, PQ and Nashville, TN.
From Vancouver, 80 meters looks good from 0300 to 1100z, and 40 meters from 0100 to 1200. 30 meters looks good from 2300 to 0700 and 20 meters from 2030 to 0430. 17 meters might open on some days from 2030 to 0330, particularly if solar flux rises to about the low seventies.
From Montreal 80 meters should be open from 2300 to 1100z. 40 meters could be open around the clock, with the best time from 0030 to 0930 and the poorest period from 1530 to 1900. Check 30 meters from 1700 to 0530 and again from 1000 to 1130. The strongest period should be after 0000. 20 meters looks good from 1300 to 1530 and better from 1900 to 0300. 17 meters may be open some days from 1730 to 2300.
From Nashville, check 80 meters from 2300 to 1200z. 40 meters should be open during all periods, with the weakest period from 0730 to 0900. Check 30 meters from 1100 to 0530. 20 meters should be open most days from 1800 to 2330, and on some days may be open as early as 1530 and as late as 0400.
